Is there a Tree Preservation Order at this postcode?
Destroying a protected tree without consent is a criminal offence with an unlimited fine (Town and Country Planning Act 1990 s.210), and the court looks at what you gained from it. Check before you cut, before you buy, before you hire the tree surgeon.

How it works
- Enter a postcode. We geocode it (postcodes.io) and query the government Planning Data Platform for TPO zones covering the point, protected trees within 100 m, and conservation areas.
- Free: whether a TPO zone covers the postcode, how many protected trees are nearby, and whether you are in a conservation area — or, where the council publishes no TPO data, a plain "not checked". We never turn missing data into a "no".
- £7.99: the order references and distances, the legal instruments behind them, the council to contact, the statutory rules and penalties, a section 211 notice template where a conservation area applies, and a dated PDF. If we find nothing, there is no report to buy and no charge.
